Amendment 13

1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction

2. Congress shall have power to enforce this article by appropriate legislation

This amendment of the constitution is pretty self explanatory, it makes slavery illegal and gives Congress the power to right laws to and legislation to enforce it.

Thoughts:

It is sad to see that there are places today that still struggle with the issue of slavery. People are people no matter what race or religion they are and should not be treated as property. It is good to know that actions are being taken in order to change this but they still have a long way to go to get where the US is today.

Thoughts:

It is sad when something created by God in order to show love towards our mate is turned into something that causes people to be taken into slavery. People should not be forced to do anything against their will rather it be working on someones property or becoming someones property. It is 2009, will I am not convinced that we will ever see a day when everyone is treated equally.
