Amendment 1

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The first amendment of the constitution was written in order to make sure the people of the united states was not denied the basic rights of being able to worship God freely, speak and write what their thoughts and opinions are, and to be able to gather for a common cause without being punished for it.

Thoughts:
This video concentrates on the freedom of religion given to people by the government. Today more then ever people are afraid that the government is trying to take God out of the country, which is what this country was founded on. God does give people the rights we have, and the people in trust the government with out natural born rights, if the government takes God away, what do we have left? This video also goes into the right to assemble when it talks about the Catholics gathering in protest.

Thoughts:
Freedom of Speech is another freedom guaranteed to us by the 1st amendment. I believe as American citizens we should be extremely grateful that we are given to opportunity to protest the government byour words, because in other countries you cant. But I do also feel that sometimes the government interferes with this right, if not directly, indirectly like in this video. The cop made it seem like an accident in order to get a fight started, which would stop the march and end up getting people arrested. It was the march that started the fight, but the cop played it off in a different, so they could not say their freedom of speech had been violated.
